The Accounting Study Program Student Association (HMPSA) in collaboration with the Accounting Study Program of Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar) held the Parahyangan National Accounting Challenge (PNAC) 2018, on 9-11 April on the Unpar campus, at 94, Ciumbuleuit Road, Bandung. PNAC is routinely held every two years. This time, PNAC was themed ” Break the Boundaries and Explore Your Knowledge in Accounting “.

“PNAC itself is essentially an accounting competition. This year we showcase it with a different shape, (ie) a seminar as well as a field trip to the Floating Market on the first day, “said Chief Executive Irene Hamzar PNAC 2018. When participants completed the activities, said Irene, she hopes participants not only go home with empty hands but bring science through seminars and exciting experiences while in Bandung.

“The initial goal was definitely to hone the ability of participants in the field of accounting,” explains Irene. In addition, PNAC is also expected to help participants to hone their skills outside the lectures such as interpersonal and communication skills.

24 teams from all over Indonesia participated in this national competition. Some participants came from Surabaya and Jakarta. Each university can send 3 teams consisting of 3 members/team.

On the first day, the participants attended the PNAC seminar. Activities were interspersed with field trips on the second day. Subsequently, the race was held on the third day. Meanwhile, the selection stage during the competition was divided into preliminary round, quarter-final (12 best teams), semi-final (6 best teams), and final (3 best teams).

Not only Unpar Accounting students who acted as the executive team, the involvement of Accounting lecturers during the preparation and implementation of PNAC had been very influential. “the Prodi was pretty much involved,” said Irene. In this case, the lecturers helped prepare confidential competition questions, as well as providing the jury at the time of the event.

Irene revealed, the participants’ enthusiasm was quite good and their response was quite positive. “The response was quite good. Some (teams) who had already dropped out were given questionnaires. Some said, ‘The event was quite interesting and so forth’. We must also have shortcomings, and that I think it can be constructive for the future, he explained energetically.

Widya Mandala University Surabaya which sent two groups, Team A and Team B and The State College of Accounting (STAN) managed to qualify for the final round. The 1st and 2nd place were taken by both teams from Widya Mandala University, Surabaya. Occupying the position of 3 winners, the PKN STAN Team B. As for Consolation Prize I to III, each waswon by the University of Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, Bina Nusantara University, and Trisakti School of Management.

“We hope that in the future, other work programs of the Student Association can run even better. And for PNAC itself, we hope to learn better for the future. There can be more team members and more interesting events, “said Irene who is a student of Unpar from the class of 2016.

“Participants here also (can) get useful knowledge for themselves,” he concluded.
