Becoming Creative and Innovative Entrepreneurs

Menjadi Wirausahawan Kreatif dan Inovatif

The current economic development demands business people to become more creative and innovative. Students, as future business people, are expected to have good entrepreneur skills, so that they will be highly competitive. This fact has encouraged the Diploma 3 Company Management (D3MP) of Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar) to host the Karnival 2016.

The Karnival 2016 is an annual event that is featured to improve the quality of D3MP students’ entrepreneurial ability, which is in line with one of its aims, namely is to produce students who are able create and manage businesses creatively and innovatively. In addition, Karnival 2016 serves as a means for students to introduce their entrepreneurial products to the general public.

One of the events within Karnival 2016 was a Business and Entrepreneurship Competition. This competition featured numerous original products made by students of D3MP Unpar. It served as event for students to compete in creating the most creative and innovative product.

In addition to the Business and Entrepreneurship Competition, numerous other competitions were held, such as: an acoustic band competition, a fashion show, and a dance competition. These competitions are intended to channel and display young talents.

Karnival 2016 was held for three days, starting from Friday November 25, to Sunday, November 27, 2016, on the GL floor of the Bandung Electronic Center (BEC) 2, Bandung. Fiersa Besari and Kerabat Kerja, also appeared as a guest star to enliven the Karnival 2016.

“The events are among others an inter-high school business competition, inter-varsity as well as for the general public (SMEs) along With a band, and a dance competitions, fashion show competition in between. The winner will receive the trophy from the Mayor of Bandung.” according to Muhammad Rizal Pratama when interviewed by the Unpar Publication Team on Friday (25/11).

On the first day of the event, tenants from every business were introduced. In this event the organizer cooperated with the Bandung municipal government. The SMEs consist of general tenants, SME communities, students and high school students.

“the evaluation was based on (the participants’) way of promoting their products, as well as their selling skills”, summed up Rizal as the head of event division of Karnival 2016.

Rizal, who is currently a student of D3MP Unpar, stated that many students who are taking creative entrepreneurship also participated in the competition. The adjudicators were D3MP lecturers who happen to double  as entrepreneurs .

“In the future, we hope to make a bigger event than this, the one that will cover everything. In addition we will move to different venues. Because we don’t want to get stuck in this place”, he then concluded.
